That’s all folks! Whakapapa and Turoa are now closed for the season.
Ruapehu Lift Company posted this update: “Due to the rain that has fallen over the past 48hrs accompanied by warmer temperatures we have lost the snow around Blyth Flat to the Highnoon and have decided to close Turoa Ski Area for the 2013 Season. Our investigations of the damage to our snowpack today caused by the rain, did not provide good news. We are washed out and unfortunately there is no way we will be able to rebuild trails from what little snow we have. We tried as hard as we could to provide great spring skiing and riding for as long as we could, unfortunately Mother Nature had other ideas.
